Using the low cost Cyclone III EP3C120 FPGA, this new FPGA board provides a huge amount of logic resources of about 120k logic elements (LEs). Additionally it offers 7 I/O slots with 64 I/O signals each to address the various interfaces in industrial environments. Designer can immediately start their evaluation with the Quartus® II Web Edition that can be downloaded free-of-charge from the Altera website. The board is also available with a USB-Blaster™ download cable and a Nios ® II license. The main components of the SnakeBytes reference platform are a processor board, an FPGA-based peripheral/co-processor board (either DBF2S30 or the new DBF3C120) and multiple add-on boards for peripherals and I/O configuration. With this flexible approach, users have the choice to select that solution which meets their performance, logic and cost requirements best. |
