| With the TDA523x Infineon defines a new era in wireless control receivers. The TDA523X was designed for a broad spectrum of applications like access control, security systems, consumer remote control, automotive and home automation. It targets wireless control products that require low power consumption and compact design. With its multi-channel capability and screening for different IDs in the received data stream, the flexible receiver reduces the workload of the host microcontroller.
The TDA523x combines a high sensitivity (typ. -108dBm ASK/FSK) image-reject RF front-end with a flexible digital baseband. The multi-channel receiver can be reprogrammed on the fly. Since it offers up to 17 channels the TDA523x provides increased transmission robustness. Infineon is one of the first semiconductor companies to manufacture wireless control components in low power and cost effective CMOS technology, compared to bipolar devices which are not suitable for integrating comprehensive logic on the chip. In addition to its smart features, the TDA523x provides very low power consumption with only 8mA in active and 1µA in power down mode and thus ensures a long battery-life. The implemented autonomous wakeup functionality and configurable self polling features drive down the true average power consumption to 200 µA whereas conventional receivers require about 1 mA.
