The ISL6420A provides programmable switching frequency from 100kHz-1.4MHz. The output voltage of the converter can be precisely regulated as low as 0.6V, with a maximum tolerance of +/- 1.0 % over temperature and line voltage variations. The PWM duty cycle ranges from 0 to 100 percent in transient conditions. |

Intersil’s ISL6420A has voltage mode control architecture with external compensation for added flexibility and fast transient response. Pgood monitors the output voltage and an external capacitor allows the user to delay Pgood and eliminates the need for an extra supervisory IC on the board.
This device features an external reference voltage tracking mode for externally referenced buck converter application and DDR (double data rate) termination supplies, as well as a voltage margining mode for system testing in networking DC/DC converter applications. The ISL6420A starts up in a pre-biased load and includes protection features like over-voltage, over-current, under-voltage lock-out and over-temperature shutdown. The error amplifier features a 15MHz gain-bandwidth product and 6V/µs slew rate that enables high converter bandwidth for fast transient response. Key Features Operates from 4.5V to 28V input Excellent output voltage regulation 0.6V internal reference +/- 1.0 % reference accuracy over line and temperature Resistor-selectable switching frequency 100kHz to 1.4MHz Voltage margining and external reference tracking modes Programmable soft-start Fast transient response High bandwidth error amplifier Full 0 to 100 percent duty cycle Target Applications Point-of Load (POL) applications DC/DC conversion for 5V and 12V bus architectures DSP and ASIC core power supply LCD TV designs Industrial and medical applications Portable instrumentation Routers, switchers, datacommunications and telecommunications applications
