Toshiba has introduced a single-package multi-chip device for controlling and driving 3-phase brushless DC motors (BLDC). Its small size makes it possible to place the control circuit close to or even inside the motor housing for space-critical applications. 

The TB6581H features PWM-modulated sine-wave drive for the motor, enabling solutions exhibiting low mechanical noise, low emissions and minimal torque ripple. Motor speed is controlled through an analogue voltage input, simplifying the design.  The integrated 6-IGBT power stage is rated at 400 V, 1 A nominal and is fully protected against overloads and other anomalies.
