Bluetooth is at this point in time the most mature standard for wireless networking due to the comprehensive number of device profiles that are available. It is well suited for small networks with relatively high data rates (730 kbps raw) and low power. Bluetooth operates in the 2.4 GHz band and defines three classes of devices according to transmission distance: Class 1: <100 mW - up to 100 m. Class 2: <2.5 mW - up to 10 m. Class 3: <1 mW - a few metres. Bluetooth networks are usually configured as one master device and up to 7 slave devices, called a picoNet. Larger networks can be build using routers between the picoNets. All our modules are Bluetooth version 2.0 compatible. |
