Low Frequency Range
Characteristics
- Easy to use
- Operation frequencies between 120 to 134 kHz (long wave)
- The magnetic field produces a defined homogeneous read zone.
- The field falls off quickly which limits the read range
- LF radio waves pass through most materials besides metal with almost no reduction in read range.
- LF works in water – and underwater
- Relatively slow data rates
- In most systems multiple tags can only be read one after the other
- Tag prices are slightly higher, mainly due to antenna size
Examples for Applications
- Access Control
- Livestock (Animal Tracking)
- Immobiliser (Car)
- Point of Sales
- Other short range applications
Supported by all EBV RFID Suppliers ATMEL, NXP Semiconductors, Texas Instruments
