FPGA Application Made Easy: DBC4CE55 – 3rd Generation
EBV’s ‘MercuryCode’ evaluation platform for industrial applications now also supports Altera’s Cyclone IV family. The EP4CE55 has taken over the role as the central control element.
With 2x Ethernet interfaces
it is an ideal platform for development of any fieldbus implementation. For every industrial communication protocol based on Ethernet standards, an appropriate IP-core such as EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, POWERLINK and SERCOS III is ported to the 'MercuryCode' board. The block diagram gives an overview of the available board features.
For MMI applications the board allows for a TFT display to be connected directly. The touch panel interface allows for easy communication with the user. A reference design for the graphic controller is available and low level driver for the 'EMWIN-Graphic Library' is available from Segger.
Another new feature is a crypto device to protect the intellectual property of the design. An EEPROM memory of 4 KB is part of the crypto device and may be used to store configuration parameters.
EBV Elektronik has implemented a Nios® processor in the FPGA, as well as, various industrial drivers (for industry standard interfaces) that come with an appropriate driver/software package.
